Making Orange Juice

Another January set of pictures. Trent and I decided to make juice while Hunter was napping one day. We had a lot of oranges that I didn't want to go bad and we had just watched the episode of Caillou where they make citrus juice. Trent loved it.

Finger Puppet Show

Trent using his Learning Tower as a stage for a finger puppet show back in January. Very cute.

A Wedding Cake

Ok, so this is a few weeks late, but... Congratulations to Mr. and Mrs. Rollo!

My sis-in-law got hitched at the beginning of the month. It was a nice little get together and they will have their full ceremony at a later time. I made a cake for them and it turned out beautiful! You can get the recipe from from the Joy Troupe cook book, "Tummy Full of Joy: The Busy Mama's Guide to Quick Kitchen Fixes." The recipe is by the ever impressive Meghan Gray.

Christmas Cactus in Bloom

I have two Christmas cactus. One that has grown from a plant that is older than I am, and one that I got at Trader Joe's in 2009. The one I got at TJ's is blooming right now, and it is beautiful. I cannot believe the flowers on this thing! My old one has a couple of buds just forming, so it will be a little while before I see that one have any flowers.

After the Trader Joe's cactus is done flowering I think I am going to repot it and see how it does. It has been in the same cheap plastic grocery store flower pot since I got it.

Rally Pictures

Back in October I attended the Rally to Restore Truth/March to Restore
Fear. That was before I was using Posterous, so I never really put the
pics on my blog. Please don't judge me, all I had was the iPhone. Here
they are:

Essential Material for your Home Library

Was just cleaning out some old pictures on my phone when I found this...

Eating Apples

Hunter is notorious for disliking fruit, with the exception of
cantaloup and watermelon. So I was delighted when today at snack time
I was able to get him to eat some apples. Of course, I had to cover
them in cinnamon and sugar, but he ate them!

True to form, Trent (who normally loves apples) refused to eat them.

Paints Paints and Puzzles

Today we were supposed to go on a play date, but Hunter was acting
off. In case he was coming down with something again I decided it
would be better not to go.

Of course I needed to come up with something for them to do. I
recently bought some water colors, and set those up for the kids. My
grandmother is in the hospital right now and Trent was very excited to
make a get well card for her.

Hunter finished after two paintings and Trent painted until the water
colors were gone. He still wanted to paint, though. What to do?

Seeing as it was the kids first time using water colors, I decided to
let Trent have another first; finger paints! Hunter busied himself
with puzzles while Trent pretty joyfully used his hands to create some
art.

All of the days art is laid out in the last three pictures. The two
water colors on the top right are by Hunter and the rest are by
Trent. I'll have to get these in the mail soon, I'm sure Ma will love
them.
