A Patio I WANT To Use

I finished cleaning up the patio yesterday. Now I actually have a back yard and patio that I want to use and everything is ready for the party on Saturday. Hurray!

My Backyard

I know this doesn't look like anything special but it is a huge improvement from over two months ago and what I have been spending the past month working on in my free time. Today I got some help from a good friend and her kids cleaning up my patio (no pics because it was starting to rain) and I should be done by Hunter's birthday party. Everything is coming together nicely! Although I did come to the realization that I need to get some serious gardening tools. All in due time, I guess.

Trent's First Soccer Class

Today I took Trent to his first soccer class. He has been so excited about it for over a month now and he had such a blast today. He went right up to his coach and introduced himself without my prompting. (I think I'll have to have a little talk with him about strangers) He was having such a great time and I can tell Hunter is going to want to do this eventually, too!

Miss Coupon Diva

Coupondivalogo2

Now, I have to start off by saying that coupons are not my thing. However, I was listening to Tell Me More on NPR today and they were interviewing Joyce House from MissCouponDiva.com I thought it was interesting enough to blog about and encourage you to listen to the NPR interview. It certainly hasn't changed my mind about using coupons, but it was an interesting story at least.

Earth Day Craft

We had our craft day today with our play group. I decided we should do something for Earth day, so I had each kid make a planet or two. It was loads of fun and turned out way better than I expected. :-D

First Ride of the Year

I took the kids on our first bike ride of the year. Of course I chose a day when it was close to ninety degrees to do this, but it was still nice. Definitely got a little sun, too. Our first stop on the ride was a bike shop so Trent and I could get some new bike helmets. When he put his on this morning he said it was too tight. I also have been riding around with a cracked helmet for a little while.

After the bike shop, I decided that we should check out the Marina since it was close by. It was very nice, and I found a place to bring the kids to feed the geese for the. The hills on the way back were difficult and I will be in a bit of pain tomorrow!

New Sneakers

Garrick went to Target over the weekend and got the kids new shoes. Here they are modeling them and being blinded by the morning sun.

Happy Birthday Hunter or I Have An Awesome Family

Two years ago today Hunter was born. It was a very difficult year for me and his birth was no exception. There were a lot of external variables at work that did not help with the general chaos and emotions that come when delivering a baby. As a result the entire affair was less than ideal and something that I am trying very hard to overcome on a psychological level. Luckily for me I have a truly amazing family who was able to come to my rescue!

So, on this April 25th I would really like to thank my family. Especially my Mom and my Aunt Julie. My Mom was exhausted after having driven from upstate New York to Northern Virginia for what was initially supposed to be a one week visit, but turned into two. She then drove back to New York. I needed a great deal of help, so I called my Aunt Julie and asked her if she could make the drive from NY to my home. Without hesitation, she told me absolutely! My Mother was not in a good state because she knew how bad off I was. (I was huge and probably should have given birth two or three weeks before I did!) She decided to make the trip back to Virginia with her sister after driving MY sister back home the day before. My sister had already missed a bunch of school because of the extended trip.

I went into labor the next day and they were both truly amazing. So thank you Mommy and Aunt Julie. I love you both so much.

I also want to thank my sister-in-law Britten for taking care of all the stuff that needed to be taken care of while Garrick and I were on bed rest. I know it wasn't easy.

Kerrie, thanks for watching little Trent and helping out with Icesis.

To my step-Dad, Jim. Thank you for letting my have your wife on your birthday. I know you missed her.

Thank you to my Joy Troupe family. The moral support was so great!

Lastly, but not leastly, thank you Garrick. Your love and support mean more to me than you know. You're the best.

Happy Birthday Hunter! My big/little man. You truly are a gift and I love you!

We love Hunter's ever-evolving hair in our house. It's even more fantastic now than it was when this picture was taken. October 2010
