A Prairie Home Companion at Wolf Trap

Pictures from my date with Garrick last night. Went to the Wolf Trap Theatre for the first time last night to see A Prairie Home Companion. We had lawn seats and unfortunately we got there too late to be able to see the stage. It was still a lovely time, though. Garrick bought us a picnic dinner so we wouldn't have to worry about food.

Rescuing Daddy

Yesterday, Garrick went out to run some errands on the bike. I got a phone call from him some time later saying he needed me to come and get him because a clutch cable had snapped. While the kids and I were in the car on the way to get Garrick, Trent said "We're going to rescue Daddy!"

Here are the kids in the back of the car with a snack of animal crackers and wonderful twist on my Mom's cream cheese and fluff dip. (The twist is Nutella.) Garrick is puzzling over how to replace the cable.

New Sneaks for Mommy

So, I've been putting off getting new sneakers for a long time even
though I really needed them. My old ones were finally worn out enough
that I had no other choice. The stuffing had come out of the backs and
the plastic was cutting into my heels.

We were out today and I remembered that this is a tax free weekend.
What better time to buy new shoes. So, we went to Dicks and I got the
cheapest pair of Saucony's they had. I also got a few clearance
moisture wicking clothes for when I'm on the bike.

Finally got Tmoe a soccer ball, too. Size four.

Alphabet Review

It dawned on me on Friday that the perfect way to review our letters each week is to make cookies out of them!

I made some sugar cookie dough the week before and hadn't used it and I needed to find something to do with it. I also wanted to do some review of the letters we had worked on during the week. Wait a minute! I have letter cookie cutters! Unfortunately, they aren't lower case, but you make do with what you have. The kids really enjoyed this activity.

Trip to the Marina

On Thursday we went to the Marina to feed the geese. The boys thought it was just the bees knees. We brought Icesis with us so she could get some exercise. She's still sore from the excursion.

Monday Strawberry Picking

Here are our spoils from strawberry picking last week. Eight pounds of strawberries and three dozen eggs. I'm pretty sure that Muskrat Haven Farms keeps Easter Egg Chickens. The kind I would have were I allowed to have chickens in my county. I froze some of the strawberries and I made a strawberry crisp that was absolutely wonderful. I found the recipe at Epicurious. I will definitely be making it again. The only thing I changed was the crispy topping recipe. I found one recipe for a crisp topping that I absolutely love and I almost always exchange it in recipes.

I think we will be going back out to the farm in July to pick blueberries. I'm looking forward to that.
